Please look further for the NoR for the 3rd European Cup race “WWEC 2010 Hanko” that will take place in Hanko, Finland on February 12 – 14.
Not to confuse you, there is still no NoR for the 2nd WWEC event in Lithuania because of uncertainty regarding the location. But with no doubt we meet in Lithuania on January 29-31! NoR for race in Lithuania will be published in few days…

Notice of Race
- Open winter sailing race
- Event is organised by Suomen Talvipurjehtijaliitto ry in cooperation with Winterwindsurf
- Sponsors: Rautio Sports, Outdoorpoint, Rip Curl and Brandt Oy
- Winter windsurfing race will be done on sleds with standard windsurfing rigs in two disciplines (course race and slalom) according to following rules: Winter Windsurfing European Cup (WWEC 2010), Winter Windsurfing Racing Rules (WWRR 2010), this Notice of the Race (NoR) and Sailing Instructions (SI)
- Participation fee of 30€ shall be paid during the registration, registration form filled, equipment registered, every participant shall possess a valid injury insurance (for Finnish participants racing license of Purjehtijaliitto either by Purjelautaliitto or own club is enough)
- Sailing Instructions will be given no later than during the first skippers’ meeting
- Every competitor participates at his/her own responsibility; suitable helmet is mandatory and other equipment is recommended. Everyone is responsible to assure safety of everyone (including himself/herself) on ice and avoid any unnecessary risks. Sailing on weak ice (known danger areas will be told latest at skippers meeting), in dark or in otherwise bad conditions is forbidden.
- Competitors are participating sober, regarding any doping substances ISAF Regulation 21 applies
- There will be Chief Officer, Race Judges and Organiser Workers
- Protest committee will be elected from the competitors to review possible protests together with the judges; in case a judge or a competitor is involved in the protest they will be excluded from protest committee and new members will be elected instead of them
- Race will be carried out in accordance with these rules (rules will be displayed during the race and explained during the skippers meeting); all participants accept by their participation decision of the Race Judges regarding their equipment, sailing and possible protests
- During the registration competitors will get number bibs that shall be kept visible during the practice and race; after the race it is mandatory to return them
- Shape of the tracks, their location and number of laps will be announced during the skippers meetings
This will be announced no later than 10th February 2010 on www.winterwindsurf.com and www.purjelautaliitto.fi.
- In case of bad wind conditions or wind forecast event may be cancelled – this will be announced no later than 10th February 2010 on www.winterwindsurf.com and www.purjelautaliitto.fi
- Race Judges decide number of starts at the location
- In both disciplines (course race and slalom) following will be awarded
- Overall
- Ladies (if more than five participants)
- Youth under age of 20 on 31.12.2010 (if more than five participants)
- Masters over age of 40 on 31.12.2010 (if more than five participants)
- Best Try (by Race Judges decision)
- During the demo-part all competitors are requested to kindly introduce all spectators and testers into ice sailing and help media representatives to get good photos and videos. During the race racing has higher priority
- Schedule:
- Friday 12th Feb
- 12:00 preparation, rigging, free testing
- 16:00 – 18:00 registration
- 13:00 – 18:00 possible training starts, demos, photo shooting
- Saturday 13th Feb
- 09:00 – 10:00 registration
- 10:30 skipper’s meeting
- 11:00 first possible start
- 17:00 last possible start; the party place for the evening will be announced
- 19:00 meeting of STAL ry (for Finnish participants; place open)
- Sunday 14th Feb
- 9:00 skipper’s meeting
- 9:30 first possible start
- 16:00 last possible start
- 17:00 prize giving ceremony (all participants are requested to attend)
- possible schedule changes will be announced in the skipper’s meetings
- Race results will be announced to Winter Windsurfing Club (www.winterwindsurf.com ) and Finnish Windsurfing Union (www.purjelautaliitto.fi); European Cup points will be counted for sleds if there is one or more accepted starts in course racing and one or more series in slalom.
- Grilled sausages and hot drinks are available for competitors at race area.
- By their participation all participants allow usage of their photos/videos by photographers and organisers and sponsors without any limitations
- Event organiser has right to request all participants to put stickers to their sails in accordance with WWRR2010
